Ministry Spotlight: Baja Bound Ministries

From time to time I hope to be able use the Live:Learn:Lead blog to highlight various ministries that are innovative, influential and making an impact.  One such ministry is led by a good friend of mine, John Rose at Baja Bound Ministries.  John has committed over twenty years of his life to serving and helping the working poor in the agricultural region of Baja, Mexico.  I have had the privilege of bringing groups to Mexico under John’s leadership over the last ten years, and most of the students who have been on one of those trips would say that Mexico was one of the life-changing moments in their faith.

One of the things I love about Baja Bound Ministries is they are visionary.  A few years back they made an ambitious commitment to build 100 homes for those that Jesus considers “the least of these” (Matthew 25).  While securing property to provide American teams with safe living quarters, deepening strategic partnerships with the local pastors in the area,  mobilizing dozens of teams to cross over the U.S. border into Mexico, and providing thousands of Christmas presents for Mexican children every year, Baja Bound Ministries has completed over 25% of their goal of building homes.

If you are a youth worker looking to take a team to Mexico, I would highly recommend you consider Baja Bound Ministries.  If you are a student who has been to Mexico, check out what John and crew have been up to since you were there.  They are on Facebook, so give them a “like” on their page.  I would ask and encourage all of you to pray for their continued impact in Mexico.

Way to go, guys!  I’m inspired by what you do everyday!
